An Ode to Joe on his Birthday

Posted by Roberta Lipp on February 4, 2007

Joe is someone whose friends sing his praises
And when he gets drunk he relies on vague phrases

Though he doesn’t drink coffee, he French presses for me
And despite a disinterest in fashion, he does not dress poorly

Joe is a guy who’ll fix any broken item
If he encounters extinguished candles, he’s right there to light ‘em

Joe has a weird beard and a penchant for excellent cheeses
Joe is most attentive to not catch or spread diseases

Joe has tattoos that are subtle like he is
If he were choosing a small car, my money’s on a Prius

Joe has a kitty whose name is too long
At Christmastime you ‘ll hear Joe sing every song

Joe is the tenderest lover a woman could dream of
And he really likes my friend Lisa’s homemade creampuff

Joe loves to prepare and serve feasts to his loved ones
And I am just tickled to be considered among ‘em
